British Citizen Fined for Driving 244 km/h on Croatian Highway

The police in Sisak fined a 22 year-old British citizen a total of 11.600 kuna for a series of offences he committed while driving on the A3 highway Bregana-Zagreb-Lipovac on Sunday, reported Jutarnji on August 14, 2017.

The young Brit was stopped at a part of the A3 going through Sisak-Moslavina County on Sunday around 21:00, driving at a shocking speed of 244 km/h (151 mph). The speed limit on Croatian highways is set at 130 km/h (80 mph).

Apart from serious over speeding, he was fined for seven other offences, including not keeping an adequate distance, overtaking heavy goods vehicles, failing to check if he were presenting a special danger to other drivers while changing lanes, and failing to present his driver’s license upon request of the police.

According to the Police Department of Sisak-Moslavina County, the police issued a penalty charge notice and fined the driver with a total of 11.600 kuna, along with taking away his passport in order to ensure an effective recovery of the fine.
