June the 12th, 2024 – The British media has praised the island of Vis, stating that the lack of crowds make it better than the constantly-talked-about Hvar.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, over the last few weeks, foreign media have been talking about destinations that could be great for tourists for a summer holiday. As such, the British media recently singled out the island of Vis, describing it as “an ideal destination for travellers looking for peace, adventure and the authenticity of Croatian island life”.

“A beautiful little island in Europe, known for its stunning natural beauty, rich history and cultural significance, is the perfect place for a summer holiday with almost no tourists. The beautiful island is characterised by an indented coast, hills and fertile plains”, the Express added, noting that the highest point of Vis is Mount Hum.

the food didn’t go without due praise…

The British media also writes that the temperature during the month of June on Vis goes up to around 26°C, which, as they point out, makes it an ideal place for those looking for summer trips. At the same time, they singled out the most popular beaches on the island – Stiniva, Stončica and Srebrna. They also praised the food, noting that fresh seafood is always offered on Vis.

Finally, they added that the island of Vis hosts many cultural and music festivals throughout the summer and that, compared to Hvar, an island that is often overexposed all over the place, Vis is much more pleasant because of the smaller crowds.

We’re inclined to agree with the British media about Vis. However, the Express has only touched the very surface of what Vis has to offer (which shouldn’t be much of a shock to anyone from the UK). Did you know that Vis was actually once off limits to foreigners under Tito’s orders? The Express should probably also know that Vis is home to the oldest cricket club in all of Europe outside of the UK. Find out more about this remarkable little island here.
