Rijeka, Dinamo or Hajduk? Croatian Title Race to Be Decided in Final Round

In a dramatic turn of events at Poljud Stadium, Hajduk defeated Rijeka 2–1 in the penultimate round (Round 35) of the SuperSport Croatian Football League, keeping the Croatian title race wide open until the very end.

Rijeka missed a golden opportunity to clinch the championship after league leaders Dinamo Zagreb stumbled with a 1–1 draw against Lokomotiva on Saturday at Maksimir. Had Rijeka won, they would have secured the title with one round to go. Now all eyes turn to the final weekend, where the Croatian champion will be decided.

Final Round Fixtures:

• Šibenik vs. Hajduk
• Rijeka vs. Slaven Belupo
• Dinamo Zagreb vs. Varaždin

All three matches will be played simultaneously next weekend, as Rijeka, Dinamo, and Hajduk remain in the title hunt. Each of the contenders has faltered at key moments throughout the season, particularly during its closing stretch, contributing to one of the tightest finishes in recent memory.

No matter who comes out on top, Croatia is set to crown its lowest-scoring champion ever. The current record for fewest points by a title winner stands at 73, set by Dinamo Zagreb in the 2017/18 season.

How Rijeka Can Win the Title:

1. A win against Slaven Belupo seals the championship.
2. A draw is enough, but only if Dinamo fails to beat Varaždin.
3. Rijeka can even lose if Dinamo also loses to Varaždin and Hajduk does not beat Šibenik.

How Dinamo Can Win the Title:

1. A win over Varaždin — and Rijeka fails to win — gives Dinamo the crown.
2. A draw works only if Rijeka loses and Hajduk does not win.

How Hajduk Can Win the Title:

1. Beat Šibenik, and both Rijeka and Dinamo lose.
2. Beat Šibenik and create a three-way tie with Rijeka and Dinamo at 63 points.
3. Beat Šibenik, Rijeka loses to Slaven, and Dinamo draws with Varaždin.

The final weekend promises to be a nail-biter, with three historic clubs vying for the title and plenty of drama left to unfold.
