Split, Croatia – CroatiaTech, a Croatian-American technology consulting company announced today that it is in final negotiations with a global technology provider to bring at least 100 new tech jobs to Croatia. These new positions would be filled within the first year, onboarding roughly 25 new programmers every quarter. Heavy tax rates are the last hurdle holding CroatiaTech from already winning the project.
With confidentiality agreements in place, it is not possible to discuss the end client at this point, but they are a global company with offices in over 60 countries. “Having this client in Croatia would further put us on the world stage, as well as increase our already talented workforce’s knowledge,” said Josip Majic, Co-Founder & CTO at CroatiaTech. It is now between Croatia or Poland to win the contract and kick off the project.
“Croatia has been developing over the past few years, and technology is the sector that will have the biggest impact in years to come. I’ve recently moved back to Croatia after living in the US for 20 years, and see that we are on a good path in this sector; we just need great opportunities & better payroll tax rates” said Nenad Cuk, Co-Founder & CEO of CroatiaTech.
Tech offers white collar jobs our youth can do here, without having to leave the country to pursue other opportunities. Besides programming, it leads to opportunities in support, marketing & sales, where the main requirement is proficiency in a secondary language.
One of the challenges preventing the company from jumping to Croatia straightaway is the relatively high tax rate that comes with hiring individuals. CroatiaTech is part of a growing number of companies that supports having special rates in this sector to allow for faster growth.
“We need legislation to pass special tax rates for tech companies,” added Nenad, “we need to develop an industry for the 21st century, and no great country in the world exists without a thriving technology sector. Our youth isn’t leaving from lack of farming or tourism jobs.”
