Investment in Tourism: 500 Million Euro Project for Zablaće

Something entirely new in the works for Zablaće…

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 4th of December, 2017, the site in question in Zablaće, close to the increasingly popular coastal city of Šibenik, was even visited by the one and only Brad Pitt a couple of times as he was also interested in investing – a move which naturally promoted the area and subsequently attracted the close attention of investors on a global scale.

If no major obstacles throw a spanner in the works, as things stand, a huge tourist oriented project from Swiss investors in Zablaće could be acheived within a five year period, and depending on the final wishes of the investor, there will be at least three hotels with residential and public facilities dedicated to not only family tourism, but to city tourism and health tourism as well – the latter of which is becoming increasingly popular in Croatia owing to the presence of high-scale equipment, particularly in dentistry, lower prices and excellent medics.

This enormous project, worth at least 500 million euros, is fully in line with the Master Plan for Development of Šibenik and GUP, said Branko Baica, REXPO’s investor representative. As is already known in some wider circles, this project, otherwise the Nikola Resort project, was designed by architect Nikola Bašić, and the idea was to develop a new urban center with plenty of content for both residents and tourists in the area.

“Also, given that this is a protected area, we’re working on ten studies, from a geological study to an environmental impact study. We’re glad to be able to develop this project and cooperate with the local community, to whom we first addressed our idea and were met with an excellent reaction,” stated Baica.

Investors have invested around 50 million euros in just the purchase of construction land on site. As was heard from the investors and the developers at a conference, land acquisition is often a major problem because of incompatible cadastre and land registers, as well as potential issues surrounding matters such as unclear ownership.

If Brad Pitt allegedly had his eye on the area, it must be something special indeed! All fingers are crossed for the eventual realisation of this praiseworthy project.
