A table of economic performance from EU countries from Eastern Europe is doing the rounds on social media on May 15, 2016.

There is not much more to add, really.

1989 was a year like no other in my lifetime, when the whole world changed. Regime after regime toppled in Eastern Europe, culminating in the fall of the greatest symbol of separation – the Berlin Wall itself. 

According to our picture above, some countries have fared better than others in the bright new dawn. Many have achieved EU membership status, and some economies have taken off. 

Not Croatia’s it would seem. And while there is no need from commentary from us, we leave you with the social media reaction of one of Croatia’s most successful businessmen, Mate Rimac of Rimac Automobili – Just wow.
