It looks like the long-awaited Pelješac Bridge project is finally getting to the construction phase.
During the Q&A session in the Croatian Parliament on April 13, 2016, Croatian minister of maritime affairs, transport and infrastructure was asked about the pending Pelješac Bridge project and whether it is any closer to realization.
“Pelješac Bridge is the project of all projects for this particular Government. At the moment, all conditions have been met to submit the project to the European Commission. We are currently developing the submission form and the Government will bring forth a decision in June to start the first construction phase with or without the green light from the EU” minister Butković answered his party colleague Branko Bačić.
“According to the best-case scenario, construction will begin by the end of 2016 or early 2017” he added saying that he is extremely pleased that there is a consensus between all political parties in the country on this particular issue.
Hopefully, this means we are one step closer to leaving our passports at home every time we want to get to Dubrovnik.
