ZAGREB, August 10, 2018 – Croatia is the second biggest investor in the Bosnian economy, according to figures the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) released on Thursday.
From the end of the war in 1995 until the end of 2017, foreign investment in BiH totalled 6.87 billion euro. The biggest investor was Austria with 1.33 billion euro, followed by Croatia with 1.17 billion euro and Serbia with a little over 1 billion euro.
In 2017 alone, foreigners invested 397 million euro in BiH, which was 2.5% of the country’s GDP and 100 million euro more than in 2016. Austria was again the biggest investor with 95 million euro, followed again by Croatia with a little over 50 million euro.
The bulk of the investments were in the banking sector (133 million euro), followed by commerce and electricity production and distribution.
