April the 13th, 2024 – The Croatian Brigada has been listed as being among the world’s best 100 architectural companies by Archello.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, just how significant Archello’s listing of the Croatian Brigada company on this prestigious list is isn’t felt solely by the enterprise in question. Archello shining the spotlight on this domestic company is importance for Croatian industry as a whole.
This highly respected architectural media outlet listed the Croatian Brigada as the only studio for architecture and design not only from Croatia but from the wider region. It is also the only studio on the whole list that deals primarily with interiors. It’s important to highlight that it isn’t possible to apply for this recognition, and only those who pass Archello’s strict can be placed on the list.
“When we received Archello’s email, we read it in disbelief, thinking it might be a belated April Fool’s joke. Being on the 55th place out of the 100 best in the world is really a big deal for us and for this small country. Our focus is primarily on people and that’s the guiding thread in everything we do. Our product is a space that responds to the needs of those who live in it or use it,” emphasised Damjan Geber, the director of Brigada.
Aside from the Croatian Brigada company, this prestigious list is also graced with some of the biggest names in global architecture. They include OMA, BIG, Zaha Hadid, MAD, MVRDV, Snohetta, UN Studio and more.
“It’s a true honour for us to be ranked on this list. We don’t consider ourselves to be any better than anyone else who has been placed on it. In fact, it’s quite on the contrary, many of them were our role models from the first day of dealing with architecture and interiors and will continue to be,” stated Damjan Geber.
The process of selecting the 100 best according to Archello is rigorous and extremely complex, as it takes into account various criteria. This includes the evaluation of recent projects, to the quality of the design, and innovation in materials and sustainability. In explaining the inclusion of the Croatian Brigada company in an enviable 55th place among the top 100, Archello emphasised its key role in shaping the environment and the approach to architecture as a discipline. It also noted Brigada’s constant focus on solutions in the face of all challenges, such as climate change, social differences and urbanisation.
“By embracing innovation and sustainability, Brigada significantly improves people’s lives and sets new standards of architectural excellence,” Archello said of this domestic enterprise.
