Croatian businesswoman Lana Popović is the new head of Coca-Cola’s Group for Central and Eastern Europe.
The Coca-Cola Company has announced that Croatian businesswoman Lana Popović has been appointed as the new president of the Group for Central and Eastern Europe. She will replace Nikos Koumettis, who has been appointed as the new head of Division for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), reports tportal.hr on October 26, 2018.
EMEA is the largest and most diverse division in the company with six business units and 120 countries, covering a third of the world’s population, or 2.4 billion people. In the EMEA region, Koumettis has replaced Brian Smith, who has been appointed as the chief operating officer of The Coca-Cola Company, reporting directly to James Quincey, the CEO of The Coca-Cola Company.
Until now, Lana Popović has served as manager for Northeast Europe, and in her new position, she will be responsible for the company’s operations in 26 countries, stretching from Russia to Italy.
Popović graduated from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Zagreb and joined Coca-Cola in 2001. Since then, she has gained experience in leading positions in management, strategy and marketing. In 2006, she was appointed as marketing director for Croatia and later also for Bosnia and Herzegovina. One year later, she became the business director for Southeast Europe, where she was responsible for seven countries, including Greece and Serbia.
In 2016, Popović became Coca-Cola’s business director for Poland and the Baltic. One year later, she became the director of a newly-established business unit for Northeast Europe, where she was responsible for developing Coca-Cola’s business operations in Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Moldova.
