October the 12th, 2023 – Vertiv and GLS have been declared the best large enterprises in the City of Zagreb as well as in Zagreb County as the Croatian Chamber of Commerce hands out awards.

As Poslovni Dnevnik/Suzana Varosanec writes, a recent Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK) ceremony saw the Golden Kuna (Zlatna Kuna) award given to small, medium and large companies.

The companies of varying sizes were all awarded by the Croatian Chamber of Commerce for their outstanding business results back in 2022. As pointed out by the president of the HGK Chamber of Zagreb, Josip Zaher, although most of the business of companies in the area of the Chamber of Zagreb is carried out in wholesale and retail trade, the value of their exports reaches 50% of the total Croatian exports.

Forecasts for 2024 are also important for all of them, because it is expected, as stated by the chief economist of HGK Goran Šaravanja, that next year, Croatia should be among the fastest growing economies in the entire EU, while inflation should drop to around 5%.

The winners

During the selection, for the first time, an additional criterion was included, which evaluates the results of the ESG questionnaire. As such, in the City of Zagreb (according to the criteria of financial, technological and innovative excellence, total income, investment in development, export, new products, employment and socially responsible business) the Golden Kuna was awarded to the companies M.T.M. Creator in the small company category, Syntio in the medium-sized company category and Vertiv Croatia in the category of large companies. Other winners from Zagreb County are Vikrom in the small company category, Infigo IS in the medium company category, and GLS Croatia in the large company category.

While congratulating the companies the Croatian Chamber of Commerce deems the most successful, Josip Zaher also pointed out that companies from the City of Zagreb and Zagreb County make up 40% of the total number of enterprises in all of Croatia. They also generate 56% of the total turnover, 46% of the profit and employ 45% of the employees in the domestic economy.

The most successful were also duly congratulated by the Deputy Prefect of Zagreb County, Ervin Kolarec, and the Head of the Zagreb City Office for the Economy, Ana Pavičić Kaselj. The director of Vertiv, Viktor Petik, thanked all of those present for this recognition on behalf of all of the winners.

Vertiv has achieved significant growth

“We’re now here for the third time, in previous years we took home the Golden Kuna award of the City of Zagreb for medium-sized companies, and now we’re the winners of the award for large companies,” said Petik. Vertiv is specialised in manufacturing, distribution and services for power, cooling and IT infrastructure.

Over the past few years, they have achieved very significant growth, while last year’s total revenue growth stood at 40% compared to the previous year. Two years ago, they opened new production facilities in Rugvica, and today they employ more than 500 people, of which 250 are engineers.

Meet Syntio

The fast-growing Croatian IT company, Syntio, which deals with data engineering in the cloud, has seen accelerated growth since its establishment in 2017. Last year, that growth was close to a very impressive 45%. This enabled them to expand to foreign markets, so that in addition to their headquarters in Zagreb, they have offices in both Denmark and America.

A name we all know – GLS

General Logistics System (GLS) Croatia, a company which deals with the provision of alternative postal and courier services, ranks first in Croatia in terms of market share, employing 121 employees. After the construction of a new distribution centre located in Donji Stupnik, GLS significantly expanded its capacities in domestic operations and strengthened its international network.

Vikrom

Vikrom is a company founded back in 1994, specialising in metal processing according to any given client’s specifications. It currently employs 27 employees at its plant in Bregana. Last year, more than 50% of their total income was generated by sales on foreign markets. M.T.M. Creator is a successful small telecommunications company founded in 2017, focused primarily on the growing field of the online verification and video identification of various services. It has recorded almost continuous growth, and last year, their growth of total income amounted to almost 190%.

Infigo IS

The domestic information security company Infigo IS (founded back in 2005) quickly expanded into the field of advanced analytics and the development of specialised software solutions. It has offices spanning five countries and operates on three continents. It also employs 41 employees here in Croatia. They operate within many industries because security and data analysis are extremely important to everyone, and they mainly deal with finance, ICT, energy, utilities and telecommunications.
