Larger and faster growth than anyone expected
Finally some good news regarding our economy. According to the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, Croatian economy has risen in the second trimester of 2015 by 1,2% compared to the same period last year, which is a much faster and higher increase than anyone expected.
Croatian Bureau of statistics published the first estimate according to which our GDP (Gross Domestic Product) has risen by 1,2% on an annual level and since 8 macro-economists interviewed by HINA were only expecting a growth of 0,7% (most projections were between 0,6 and 1%) these new statistics are definitely a good sign of better times ahead.
GDP has been rising for three trimesters in a row however, since we are in the middle of a tourist season and given that the strongest positive contribution to the GDP was based on export of goods and services, it remains to be seen if these positive trends will continue with the same speed and intensity for the rest of the year.
