Croatian Nautical Tourism Gets New Fleet Member Built by Brodosplit

Total Croatia News

The latest addition to the fleet operating in nautical tourism in Croatia was delivered by Brodosplit, reports hrturizam.

The new ship was ceremonially launched in Brodosplit shipyard on Thursday, June 29, 2017. The ship was a local commission by the Croatian company Tajna mora d.o.o., owned by the Marunčić family from Omiš.

Yet to be named, the new beauty is 48.38 metres long, 9.5m wide, measures 3.82m in height and weighs 497 tonnes. The steel hull and the superstructure were built by Brodosplit after the project designed by the Navis company, following rules and regulations for passenger ships and supervised by the Croatian Register of Shipping.

The launching ceremony was attended by Marunčić family members, their financing partners, and friends of the family. Grandson of the company owner, Duje Marunčić, christened the ship by cutting the rope and breaking a bottle of champagne over the bow. “We’re satisfied with the new ship, and it’ll have all family members participating in its operation. It’s primarily intended for business, but we believe we’ll have some time to relax as well. This is the crown of our work. It’s the result of multiple generations of our family working at sea – almost 40 years of sailing”, said Snježana Marunčić.

The new ship is the 12th ‘mini cruiser’ in the series of passenger ships built as part of an aid scheme for domestic nautical tourism, implemented by the shipyard in Split since 2012. “Brodosplit is building passenger cruise ships, striving to be a constant support in the renovation of the fleet used by Croatian shipowners – small businesses whose goal is to develop entrepreneurship on the coast and on the islands, as well as to intice tourism development through organised daily tours and multi-day cruises”, stated Brodosplit’s announcement.
