July the 18th, 2023 – DPD Croatia is constructing a sorting centre for both Croatian and Slovenian use, and it’s going to be the largest of its kind.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, DPD Croatia, which operates as part of the global Geopost group, has started the construction of the largest distribution centre called the Adriatic Hub in the Bistra business zone. At this new location, packages heading for both Croatia and neighbouring Slovenia will be processed simultaneously.

A 23 million euro investment

“The total value of this investment is estimated to stand at 23 million euros, while the value of the technological investment is 10 million euros,” DPD Croatia’s press release stated. The construction of the Adriatic Hub, they pointed out, is the biggest investment in improving infrastructure since the very founding of DPD Croatia, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary of doing business in the Republic of Croatia this year.

Opening is on the cards for next year

The opening of DPD Croatia’s new Adriatic Hub is scheduled for 2024 and will be the largest sorting and logistics centre to date, spanning an impressive 37,500 square metres in total.

The new complex will also be the first sorting centre that will process packages for both Croatia and Slovenia at the same time. It is being built according to the latest standards of the Geopost group, which implies the use of the currently best available sorting technology that will enable the processing of 12,000 packages per hour.

Strengthening the Croatian-Slovenian connection

“This investment in strengthening logistics capacities and improving all operational processes is expected to further strengthen the connection between Croatia and Slovenia, as well as increase the quality of service to the satisfaction of senders and end recipients in both countries,” noted the DPD CEO for Croatia and Slovenia, Igor Jakovljević.

Another distribution centre in Dugopolje

DPD Croatia currently has eighteen depots strategically geographically arranged to cover all areas of the Republic of Croatia. From this month, DPD Croatia will further increase its logistics/storage capacity by opening a new distribution centre in Dugopolje near Split. It will also be busy expanding its existing central distribution centre in Sesvete, close to Zagreb.
