EU Funds For Preko’s Strategic Tourism Development

Good news for Preko’s tourism development!

The Zadar region boasts a great many gems, and Preko is just one of them that has been eagerly waiting for a helping hand when it comes to developing their tourism strategy, and placing the emphasis of such a strategy on sustainability above all else.

As eZadar writes on the 23rd of May, 2018, 55,750 kuna has been allocated for Preko’s tourism development strategy.

According to Dražena Strihić, IQ Consulting will be responsible for creating the strategy for Preko’s tourism, the same company which prepared the strategic plan for the overall development of the Municipality of Preko. The first activity, a workshop, will be attended by representatives of both the public and private sector, and will be held at the very end of this month.

– The Municipality of Preko has already adopted the overall strategic development plan for the period 2015-2020, but this is just one of the documents required for high quality development planning.

”Since tourism is one of the main economic branches of the Municipality of Preko, it is necessary to create a concrete operational document on which the planning and development of local tourism will be based. In this case, this is a tourism strategy development which will look at and take into account the present position of the destination, analyse the existing basics, broaden development, and the need to link the offers, develop long-term tourism development and establish the main tourism development guidelines with emphasis on sustainability,” explained Strihić, noting that such a document is also needed for legitimate candidacy for access to EU funds, and that this involves not only the public sector, but the private sector too.
