The Croatian-made shoes, branded with the colours and logo of the Zagreb-Rijeka 2016 games, were introduced today, to be worn by the 800 Croatian student athletes
The Mladost stadium in Zagreb is set to host the opening ceremony of the opening of European University Games, with 4,000 spectators and millions watching via television. The programme was presented at a press conference by the ceremony director Krešimir Dolenčić and ESI2016 President Zrinko Čustonja, reported by Poslovni Dnevnik on July 8, 2016.
Croatian Startas shoes, made in Borovo in the Slavonia region, bearing the colours and logo of ESI were presented today, to be worn by over 800 Croatian student athletes. The creation process and specifics of this edition devoted to the Games was described by Dubravko Šimenc, Startas brand manager.
“900 pairs were made for Croatian athletes, with 500 available for sale during the competitions so that all can have a chance at acquiring this limited edition,” Šimenc said. The Croatian Post also published a new stamp with the ESI logo and mascot Hrki.
“Competitions begin on July 12. A total of 21 sports in Zagreb and Rijeka will be open to the public. We expect 5,800 participants, over 5,000 matches and 200,000 minutes of sports events,” Čustonja pointed out.
Tickets for the opening ceremony are also free and can be found at cashiers of Zagreb pools.
