November the 21st, 2023 – Rimac’s company Greyp Bikes, which was formed as an enterprises of its own back in 2013, has now been scrapped in its original form by Porsche.
Mate Rimac is undoubtedly the most celebrated Croatian entrepreneur of modern times. His moves made in the automotive world have placed Croatia on the map, and now Porsche, with whom he works, is taking more steps.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, back in February, the German parent company made an announcement that came as quite a shock to the faithful community:
“Dear Greyp community,
It’s with a heavy heart that we’re announcing the discontinuation of the Greyp bikes brand. Our service team will remain in order to have access to all Greyp related services for years to come.
Thank you for all of the amazing rides over the past few years, it’s been fantastic!”, reads a statement on Greyp bikes’ website.
Greyp Bikes, founded as a separate company in 2013, specialises in the production of high-tech electric bicycles. The company was part of the wider Rimac Group, known for its incredibly impressive innovations in the futuristic field of electric vehicles, founded by Croatian entrepreneur Mate Rimac.
Back in November 2021, Porsche famously purchased a majority stake in the company, which, as stated, has been operating as an entirely separate business entity since 2013. Mate Rimac once told reporters that Greyp Bikes employs about a hundred workers and exports bicycles to thirty different countries around the world, contributing significantly to providing employment, alongside the world famous Rimac Automobili and the Rimac Group as a whole.
In February of this year, the German parent company announced that it was removing what became a wildly popular brand from Rimac from the court register and replacing it with its Porsche eBike Performance brand name.
