Representatives of Uber Croatia meet with the mayor of Dubrovnik Andro Vlahušić
Mayor of Dubrovnik Andro Vlahušić and the City official for entrepreneurship and tourism Vlaho Margaretić spoke to the director of Uber Croatia Davor Tremac and his associates from Vlahović Group – founder Natko Vlahović and high advisor Damir Vucić on March 3, 2016.
During the meeting, Uber representatives expressed their interest in entering the Dubrovnik market, and they also spoke about the possibility of cooperating on several projects.
Mayor Vlahušić said that all decisions that monitor taxi services in Dubrovnik are currently being drawn up and that Uber’s business operations would have to be in accordance with the decisions made by the City of Dubrovnik.
Director Tremac and his associates presented their standard service along with UberBLACK (town car / limo service) since they believe there is a demand in Dubrovnik for such an upscale service, as well as two relatively new services UberBOAT and UberHELICOPTER.
The Mayor acquainted the Uber delegation with an existing “Dubrovnik Rent-a-Boat project which will enable residents of Dubrovnik to use boats at lower prices and owners to offer their boats when they’re not using them. He also presented the project “Dubrovački vaporet”, offering them a possibility of cooperation in establishing lines between islands in the Dubrovnik aquatorium. This project started last year and the City of Dubrovnik gives incentives to concession holders in order to keep the lines running throughout the year, in other words, it subsidizes the transport of Dubrovnik residents and Du Card holders.
Mayor Vlahušić also presented the basic framework of the Smart City Dubrovnik program which has the aim of improving the life of residents and tourists through the use of new technologies, as well as the new electric scooter service which is also planned. The city will ensure charging stations and they are open for cooperation with possible concession holders.
