A big contract for Koncar in BiH.

Croatian company Končar – Inženjering za Energetiku i Transport, Strabag and Elektroprivreda Bosne i Hercegovine have signed a contract on Friday to build the Vranduk hydroelectric power plant, project worth just under 60 million euros. This will be the first new hydroelectric power plant in the system of Elektroprivreda BiH built in the post-war period. It will be located on the Bosna river, in the municipality of Zenica. The total value of the contract is slightly less than 60 million euros, reports Posovni.hr on January 9, 2016.

The consortium comprised of Strabag and Končar – Inženjering za Energetiku i Transport has won an international tender to build this important facility. Končar will be responsible for the design, manufacture and delivery of the entire electric equipment of the power plant, its installation and initial operation.

The delivery of the equipment, in addition to Končar – Inženjering za Energetiku i Transport, will involve other Končar companies, like Končar Generatori i Motori, Elektronika i Informatika, Distributivni i Specijalni Transformatori and Sklopna Postrojenja. The turbines will be produced in cooperation with an Austrian partner company Voith.

“This is a very important project for Končar, which already has numerous references in the construction and refurbishment of hydroelectric power plants, not only in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also around the world. We are very glad that, in a tough international competition, together with Strabag we have succeeded in winning this contract. We are completely aware of the importance that this project has for Elektroprivreda BiH and we will prove once again that we are a reliable partner for even the most complex projects”, said Mišo Jurković, chief executive officer of Končar – Inženjering za Energetiku i Transport.

In addition to him, the contract for the construction of the Vranduk hydroelectric power plant was signed by the director of the Elektroprivreda BiH Public Company Bajazit Jašarević and a member of the Board of Strabag Dragan Pavelić.
