A major investment into the Croatian fishing industry.

Cromaris, a part of the Adris Group, the leading Croatian producer and one of the ten largest producers of sea bass and sea bream in the world, officially inaugurated on Tuesday a new hatchery in Nin, an investment worth 130 million kuna, reports Vecernji List on September 22, 2015.

Together with this the largest recent investment in Croatian fishing, Adris has invested in the development of Cromaris more than 560 million kuna since 2009. In just a few years, the production has been increased five times with the plan to reach the production of 10,000 tons of fish in the next three years.

The new Cromaris hatchery in Nin was opened by chairman of the Adris Group Ante Vlahović, who pointed out that it was a technologically superior facility and one of the biggest hatcheries in Europe. “We invest in our country more than 500 million kuna annually. By merging tradition, our own potential and modern business experience we are creating new jobs”, said Vlahović in Nin where 35 jobs were opened in the hatchery. Vlahović pointed out that Adris entered the sector of food production in 2009, with the unification of six companies. Since then, the production has been increased fivefold. With an average annual production growth of 40 percent, Cromaris is among the eight largest producers of sea bream and sea bass in Europe.

The new hatchery in Nin was visited by another successful businessman in the fishing business, general Ante Gotovina. “This is the right step for the development of aquaculture. Cromaris is known for its quality at the European and world markets. The products will be exported, just like we are doing with the tuna. We have not yet used all our potential resources, but good organization is the most important element for that”, said general Ante Gotovina.

Agriculture minister Tihomir Jakovina also expressed his support for the investment in Nin. “I have followed closely this project and I can say that this facility is at the technological top. We need each and every investment, and these people are doing great job, since over 70 percent of products are exported to the demanding EU market”, said the minister.
