The shopping centre will employ 200 people.

The Pula City Mall was officially opened on Wednesday evening. It is a shopping centre with a retail area of about 13,000 square metres, which makes it the largest shopping centre in the Istrian County, reports Poslovni.hr on September 1, 2016.

The Pula City Mall includes numerous brands and retailers which have never before been present in the Istrian market: C&A, Deichmann, Galileo, Hervis, Interspar hypermarket, Leggiero bar, Mass, New Yorker, Sportina and ZOO CITY.

The Pula City Mall has not only improved the offer for shoppers in Istria, but it has also brought at least 200 new jobs. According to Neven Marić, a representative of the investor, the Austrian MID Group, “the centre will, through utility and other fees, increase revenues of the local budget and make a significant contribution to the development of infrastructure and the improvement of living standards in Pula and the county”.

The investor and owner of the Pula City Mall is a Croatian project company which is part of the Austrian MID Group. The company is one of the leading and largest developers in the Croatian market and in its portfolio it already has a number of completed projects, most notably the Garden Mall in Zagreb, and shopping centres in Koprivnica, Osijek, Sisak and Valpovo.

“This investment is worth about 20 million euros and this is the first real shopping mall in Istria, which will create about 200 new jobs. The centre includes 18 brands, including some which are new for Istria”, said Marić. He pointed out that Istria was an attractive region since it had not been saturated with shopping malls and the population has high purchasing power. Therefore, the Group plans to expand its activities in the county.

On the occasion of the grand opening of the shopping centre, representatives of the Pula City Mall have donated 60,000 kuna to initiatives which work to improve life in the local community. The Ruža Petrović Home for Children, the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Istria County and the Veruda Rehabilitation Day Centre have received 20,000 kuna each.
