The largest Serbian company will open Intercontinental in Ljubljana and continues to expand its hotel business.
As Poslovni Dnevnik reports on the 7th of September, 2017, Delta Holding, the largest Serbian company, under the ownership of Miroslav Mišković, officially opens its new Intercontinental Hotel in Ljubljana, Slovenia this month, one of its biggest construction investments of EUR 50 million.
Delta Holding has made no attempt to hide the fact that that aside from Intercontinental in Ljubljana, their goal is to expand their hotel business throughout the wider region, in the Croatian capital of Zagreb, in Podgorica, Montenegro, and in Tirana, Albania.
It was confirmed that Delta Holding wanted to purchase some of the existing hotels in Zagreb, and the object of their desire is Zagreb’s famous Esplanade. This was reconfirmed by journalists who attended an informal gathering with Mišković himself, who rarely appears in the public and generally does not socialise with journalists. Marija Desivojević Cvetković, Vice President of Delta Holding for Strategy and Development, said that the Esplanade was their goal, but no specific conversations had begun yet.
The coast does not interest them.
“This job requires approval from the other side, and the Esplanade is our desire,” stated Marija Desivojević Cvetković. She did not forget to praise Zagreb’s Mayor Milan Bandić once again, who apparently gave them a warm welcome in the capital, where they proceeded to view various locations.
“For now, our decision is not to build a new [hotel], but to take over an existing hotel that could fit the top standards set by Intercontinental,” she said.
Asked if there is any interest in expanding the hotel business on the Croatian coast, Desivojević responded that they are not a company which is interested in the tourism sector because they cater to the opening of high-class business hotels in major capital cities.
In response to the question of whether or not Delta Holding is thinking of expanding its agribusiness in Croatia, especially if some Agrokor companies are sold, Ivan Kostić, Vice President of Agriculture at Delta, noted that great business was being done with Agrokor’s companies in Serbia, and that there might be interest in some companies in Serbia, but not in Croatia.
