ZAGREB, March 4, 2018 – The total purchase and sale value of agricultural products reached 7.37 billion kuna in 2017, which is an increase of 4.4% over the previous year, figures from the National Bureau of Statistics (DZS) show.
The value of sales from business entities’ own production rose by 5.5% to 4.7 billion kuna, while the value of purchases from family-run farms increased by 2.5% to 2.67 billion kuna.
The increases were mostly driven by increased prices of purchased and sold crop and livestock products and to a lesser extent by their quantities, the DZS said.
Among crop products, cereals, oilseeds, wine and sugar beets had the highest shares in the value of products purchased and sold in 2017. Among livestock products, cows’ milk, pigs and cattle had the highest shares in the total value of animal production.
