Record Number of Tourists in Zagreb in the First 4 Months of 2016

Total Croatia News

More tourists are visiting Zagreb than ever before.

I’m not a big fan of numbers or counting of guests, but when they’re this good they have to be shared. On May 9, 2016, we received the official data from the Zagreb Tourist Board for the first four months in 2016, and April figures are particularly impressive.

Exactly 82.945 tourists were registered in Zagreb in April with 150.863 overnight stays which is a 10% increase in arrivals and a 22% increase in overnight stays when compared to last year’s figures.

So, where do they all come from? South Korea takes the No. 1 spot, followed by guests from Italy, Bulgaria, United States and Germany. When we have a look at the first four months in 2016, Zagreb has recorded 232.987 tourists with  438.492 overnight stays which is, again, a very respectable increase of 8% in arrivals and 14% in overnight stays.

Zagreb Tourist Board is continuing with its workshops during May in order to elevate guest experience: “Considering the success our city is recording when it comes to tourism, Zagreb Tourist Board and the City department for education, culture and sport is organising the 6th “Tourism culture” project. This project continuously educates students in high schools that are not primarily linked to tourism and hospitality with the aim to raise their awareness of their own city, its culture as well as its tourism and natural potential. This year’s final presentation will be held in the Zagreb puppet theatre on May 9, and it will be a joint presentation by the Second economics school, Road traffic school, Post and Telecommunications school and the Mechanical and engineering school Faust Vrančić” Zagreb Tourist Board representative stated.

Considering the interest of the younger generations for tourism and its related industries as well as the potential Zagreb is showing as a tourist destination, Zagreb Tourist Board expects the growth trend to continue which will have a very positive effect on the economic development of Croatia’s capital city.
