ZAGREB, January 31, 2018 – The value of Croatian products marketed abroad last year by the Spar Austria retail chain reached 63 million euro, as against 60 million a year before, the Spar Croatia company said in a press release on Wednesday.
The highest increase, of 75%, was registered in the marketing of Croatian products via Spar to Italy.
The retail chain says it plays a significant role in marketing products of Croatian food and beverages companies such as Podravka, Kraš, Franck, Mlinar, Gavrilović, Badel, Vindija and Cromaris to EU member-states Austria, Hungary, Slovenia and Italy.
Also, some small companies in Croatia have managed to increase their exports through Spar stores abroad. For instance, Vimi, a company specialised in trade of cosmetics and hygiene products, in 2017 raised its exports to Austria through Spar stores by 34%.
“Spar believes in the quality of products of its Croatian partners and this quality is being increasingly acknowledged by consumers in other countries in which we do business,” Spar Croatia CEO Helmut Fenzl said in the press release.
