The Dalmatian capital’s smart parking solution impresses many at a leading fair in Amsterdam.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 24th of March, 2018, from March the 20th to the 23rd, Intertraffic, a leading traffic and mobility industry fair, was held in the Dutch capital of Amsterdam. The event is a gathering of over 800 exhibitors from all over the world, representing the latest solutions and exchanging ideas, thoughts and experiences in the areas of infrastructure, traffic management, security, parking, and smart mobility.

The Split communal company, Split parking, with its highly praised smart parking application (app) design, was one of the biggest stars of the fair and was present in two booths – that of the world-renowned Dutch company Nedap, a top sensor manufacturer whose products have recently found themselves in various locations in Split, and that of Infoart, whose technology was used for the billing system. Split parking has sparked the interest and curiosity of numerous visitors to Intertraffic, who offered their very positive comments and feedback on Split’s innovative ”smart city” solution.

”There’s great interest for the Split example among the participants of the fair, primarily from cities from around the world which are focusing on addressing the problems of traffic congestion, as well as environmental protection. We’re glad that this positive example of applying parking technology can be showcased alongside other cities. Split has nothing at all to be ashamed of in comparison to some of the best world examples, on the contrary, it has concretely left a lot behind it [in the sense of the fair]. With the use of a unique integrated payment platform, it’s possible to easily make payments through different systems. We’re happy that alongside our technology, this advanced service has done so well in Split,” stated Mario Hegeduš, CEO of Infoart.

Dutch partners from Nedap also praised the realisation of this project and highlighted their pride and satisfaction that they were a part of it all.

”I must first point out that I’m happy that we cooperated with Split parking on this project. It’s a great way to think ahead, and to use smart technology to maximise the use of limited capacity. The analytic you will get from this project will certainly help in drafting strategic documents and making decisions in the future, but its users – citizens, tourists, and, in a special way, people with disabilities, will benefit from it immediately. The integration of street and off-road parking spaces within the same system is a special attraction when it comes to this project. This is a rarely positive cooperation between Croatian companies, us as external partners with a long tradition and, in the end, a communal company. We’re delighted that we’ve entered the Croatian market where we’re recognised as a leading company in terms of sensors, with such success,” stated Nedap’s Ido Wentink, Head of Development for Eastern Europe, Russia and CIS.

Maarten Mijwaart, Director General of Nedap Identification Systems, also expressed the same positive feelings towards Split’s smart parking solution.

”We’re happy to see that such innovative ideas are being successfully implemented in the short term in a city such as Split. We’ve chosen the Split example as our pledge for this year’s stand, which shows how proud we are of this installation and we hope that this project will help the City of Split achieve its smart city ambitions,” stated Maarten Mijwaart.
