ZAGREB, March 26, 2018 – A project for the construction of the Lećevica Waste Management Centre (CGO) in Split-Dalmatia County has been listed as a strategic project of the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Crafts, and assistant environment and energy protection minister Anamarija Matak will lead the project.

The project is valued at 72 million euros and it is expected that 72% of that will come from European Union funds, 18% from the Environment Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund and 10% will be provided by the county itself.

Construction of the CGO centre will be in line with Croatia’s waste management programme and will satisfy the needs of 455,000 residents and about two million tourists a year in 55 towns and municipalities, a press release said.

The project envisages closing down 15 landfills in the county, the press release added.
