A new online registration process for tourist arrivals in Croatia.
Starting early next year, tourists which visit Croatia will be registered with local tourist boards through the new eVisitor IT system, which will allow data collection and publication of statistical data almost in real time, reports Poslovni.hr on November 26, 2015.
Preparations for the new central information system of the Croatian National Tourist Board have started two years ago. After successful implementation of a pilot program in April and after educational courses for users are completed by the end of this year, the eVisitor system will be ready for use, it was announced on Wednesday at a press conference at the Ministry of Tourism.
Access to the eVisitor system will have more than 60,000 registered providers of accommodation services, some 300 local tourist boards, as well as government institutions which are involved in tourism activities, like Tourism Inspection, the Ministry of Interior, the Tax and Customs Administration, and the Central Bureau of Statistics. Local tourist board have started informing the owners of rentals that from 1 January they will no longer be able to register their guests through the old system.
“Detailed monitoring of the number of tourists, as well as the possibility of data analysis, have become a necessity today because that is the only way that we can more effectively define our strategies of promotion. Through this system, we will get important information about the profile of our tourists and tourist trends, which will enable us to make Croatia an even more desirable tourist destination”, said the director of the Central Office of the Croatian National Tourist Board Ratomir Ivičić.
The system will collect and process data about accommodation providers and their accommodation units, and will be used for the control of collection of tourist taxes. The system will be available for free to all users via the Internet as a web application without the need to install it on computers. “In the future, as part of this system, we plan to develop additional ‘business intelligence’ modules which will enable even better management of destinations and tourist facilities, as well as integrated marketing activities of all users of the system”, said the Croatian tourism minister Darko Lorencin.
