August the 1st, 2023 – Vukovarsko pivo (Vukovar beer) has decided to shine the spotlight on Eastern Croatian industry and artists – in the form of Vukovarsko pivo shoes, in cooperation with Borovo.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, Vukovarsko pivo shoes praise not only Croatian design, but Slavonian grit. The beer company presented their unique model of popular Startas tennis shoes from the Borovo shoe factory, which is also based in Vukovar and has been faced with troubled times for a while now.
Eastern Croatian grit, industry and art
With this new product, Vukovarsko pivo has once again paid tribute to the industry and artists of Eastern Croatia, an area ravaged by war and further enfeebled by economic and demographic issues. In this way, the favourite beer of many Croats continues to cooperate with the local community and present authentic domestic projects, products and services.
A symbol of Eastern Croatia
“We’re glad that Vukovarsko pivo was and remains a symbol of Eastern Croatia and that it doesn’t compromise when it comes to quality. The collaborators we choose for all of our joint projects are like that – authentic, sincere and high-quality. Vukovarsko pivo is already known for hiring only local entrepreneurs for its campaigns, and we’re particularly proud of that tradition. We intend to continue in that direction because we believe that this region has a lot to offer on the market,” said Ivan Jonjić, a specialist for Zagrebačka pivovara’s (Zagreb brewery) brands.
The presented model of Vukovar pivo shoes, which are Startas, is completely unique. They were painted by the Osijek-based artist Zoran Šimunović. Until now, he has presented his works throughout Croatia and in foreign countries, but he is always happy to return to his native Slavonia.
“My parents are engaged in the production of beer barley, so I’m closely connected with the beer production process. That’s why this task was very natural to me, and I was looking for an artistic solution that would help me portray the production process. Thank you to Vukovarsko pivo for this opportunity and for continuously reminding us that the east of Croatia is also alive,” commented Šimunović.
Vukovarsko pivo carries the hero city’s memories
Vukovarsko pivo is otherwise a light beer that stood out among the first in all of Croatia as a beer made only in small production. Back in 2010, the Society of Beer Lovers declared it the best Croatian beer because of its taste and the story that carries memories of Vukovar. Last year, it received its first TV spot, which shows the beauty of Vukovar and Slavonia.
The music for the video was composed by Goran Dragaš from Vukovar, and the voice was lent by Vukovar actor Darko Milas. Through the same campaign, Vukovarsko pivo presented local people who maintain tradition with their skills. It celebrated independence, authenticity and integrity with the series “Tajni majstori Vukovara/The secret masters of Vukovar”.
