Zoning plans of the Ploče Port to be devised as the port receives major investments.

At the recently held second session of the City Council, city councillors have adopted a request for the Zoning Plan of the industrial area of Ploče port, upon the request of the Port Authority of Ploče, reports Pomorac.net, on August 18, 2017.

The port area has received major investments for the port construction, whose total value is estimated at over EUR 200 million, which is why the zoning plan for Ploče port needs to be devised and put forward quickly so that the ongoing and planned investments can be realized.At this moment there are two major investments under way: the construction of the second phase of the new terminal for liquid cargo and the design of new tanker berths, which is necessary for the realization of the whole investment of the current cargo terminal. These investments will not be realized if the local authorities don’t devise with the zoning plan for the Ploče port as soon as possible. Ploče Port Authority will finance the development of the Zoning Plan for the Port of Ploče in accordance with the Spatial Planning Act, and the City of Ploče will select the zoning planners after the tendering procedure has been completed.

The reason for the creation of the zoning plan is to create conditions and space planning prerequisites for zoning and to obtain construction permits for the port of Ploče: construction of port substructure and superstructure, construction of the remaining phases of the new terminal for the liquid cargo, new tanker berths necessary for the realization of the total investment of the terminal, the remaining phases of the container terminal, the remaining phase of the bulk cargo terminal, the infrastructure for logistics and value-added services, the logistics distribution center for cars, and all future buildings according to the development plan of the port and the interested investors.

Thirty days are foreseen to collect the requests of the zoning plan, 90 days for the preparation of the expert solution and draft proposal, 30 days to establish the proposal for public debate, 15 days to prepare the of the public debate report and to determine the final proposal of the plan, about 30 days to obtain approval from the competent institutions and about 15 days to adopt the decision on the adoption of the plan. Or put simply, the zoning planners will have 10 months to devise and put forward the zoning plan for the Ploče port.
