US News & World Report, in partnership with Y&R’s brand strategy firm, BAV Consulting, and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, have released their report for the 2017 best countries on March 7, 2017.
Analyzing 80 countries across a range of criteria including quality of life, heritage, business openness, and power, more than 21,000 people were surveyed from 36 countries in all regions of the world.
What countries ranked at the top?
“Switzerland is viewed as the No. 1 overall country, according to a survey of more than 21,000 people from 36 countries in all regions of the world. People regard the European country highly for its citizenship, being open for business, an environment that encourages entrepreneurship, the quality of life it provides its citizens and for its cultural influence,” US News says.
Canada finished in the number 2 spot, while the United Kingdom finished in third. Number 4 was given to Germany and number 5 to Japan. But the question we all really want to know – where does Croatia rank on this list?
Unfortunately, not even in the top 25. Croatia was ranked 49 out of the 80 countries assessed. And while we ranked high in adventure, we ranked as one of the lowest with power. You can read the in-depth analysis of the results here.
So where do we stand in comparison to our neighboring countries? Well, Italy was in a high 16th place, while Austria ranked 18th. Hungary was not too far from Croatia in 46th place, and Slovenia actually fell behind Croatia in 53rd. Serbia placed last on the list in 80th.
