Ston oysters are best accompanied by Cetinka Bačić from Blato on Korčula Island, a blind tasting by around 50 jury members found at the Dubrovnik FestiWine Trophy rating. From the white wines, oysters are recommended with Dubrovnik Malvazija Tezoro 2016 of the Crvik family from Konavle and Pošip Intrada 2016 by Luka Krajančić from Zavalatica on Korčula. Originating from Korčula is also the sparkling which goes best with the delicate meat of this shell, Tris Extra Brut of the Radovanović family farm in Smokvica, the best rosé being from Pelješac, Rosé La Chic of the Volarević family from Komarna vineyards.

Pairing oysters with wines was a small side festivity of the fourth wine festival in Dubrovnik which was in the beginning devoted to wines from Dubrovnik-Neretva County. This year the rating included wines from other countries, raising Dubrovnik FestiWine above the significance of a local show. But local wines still dominated. Another wine that had to be tasted was Livija, made by the Opuzen winery Prović from the indigenous variety Zlatarica which, through natural breeding with the Cetinka from the beginning of the story, gave the wonderful Korčula variety Pošip. It was a rare opportunity to compare parents and the child.
