January 5, 2023 – Croatia is the first member state to officially introduce the EU parking card for people with disabilities, which gives the right to park throughout the EU in specially marked places with the accessibility symbol.
The processing of data for the European and National ID cards and EU parking cards for persons with disabilities began, writes Poslovni. All users are invited to update the data in the Register of Persons with Disabilities (ROI) as soon as possible via the e-mail address [email protected], announced AKD.
With the new documents issued based on the new Traffic Privileges Act, people with disabilities will have easier access to numerous benefits, rights and privileges from the domain of the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, the state company AKD reported on Friday.
The same is part of the EU project MOSI – Improvement of the system of using the rights of persons with disabilities in the field of mobility, whose beneficiary is the ministry, and AKD is a partner.
Croatia is the first EU member state to introduce the EU parking card for people with disabilities outside of a pilot project. The MOSI project was financed as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, and the investment is worth more than two million euros, according to the press release.
The first issuance of documents takes place without the user submitting a request, based on data on disability/disability from the Register of Persons with Disabilities at the Croatian Institute of Public Health (HZJZ) and data from other registers within the public administration that are necessary.
Invitation to users to enter their data as soon as possible
Users are therefore invited to check and enter all their data as soon as possible (total physical impairment, physical impairment related to damage to the lower extremities, degree of functional impairment…) in the Register of Persons with Disabilities, by contacting the e-mail address [email protected]. A prerequisite for issuing documents is residence in the Republic of Croatia.
The use of the National ID card for persons with disabilities proves the right to certain privileges, and the process of granting the right to privileges in the field of mobility takes place onlinee.
Everyone who exercises their rights to a National ID also gets a European one, which, in accordance with the proposal of the new EU Directive, allows equal access to benefits in all EU member states that are primarily focused on tourism, culture (museums, theaters, concerts) and sports.
Existing documents and parking tickets are valid until May 15
The national identity card for persons with disabilities provides privileges in four areas – rail and sea passenger transport, when using highways and when using public roads. Existing documents, decisions and parking tickets are valid until May 15, 2024.
The EU parking card for people with disabilities, which gives the right to park throughout the EU in specially marked places with the accessibility symbol, will also be sent to the address of residence in Croatia, reported AKD.
