February the 13th, 2026 – Croatian companies want to be a part of North Africa’s unfolding energy transition, with a business delegation composed of over 15 companies paying a visit to Morocco.
As Poslovni Dnevnik/Sinisa Malus writes, the Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK) recently organised the formation of a business delegation in cooperation with the Moroccan General Confederation of Enterprises (CGEM). From February the 10th to the 14th, Croatian companies have the opportunity to participate in an economic forum and B2B talks, as well as visit the solar technology fair Solaire Expo Maroc in Morocco, more specifically in Casablanca.
Since Morocco is a regional leader in the energy transition of all of North Africa, the focus of the visit is on the energy sector. That said, Croatian companies from the agricultural, tourism and wood industry are also exploring cooperation opportunities within North Africa’s energy transition.
croatian companies want a slice of north africa’s energy transition cake – with morocco in first place
“Just as Morocco can be an entry point for Croatian companies to the wider region of Africa, Croatia also has an exceptional geo-strategic position. The country is part of the European Union, the Eurozone and Schengen – these are excellent logistical and transport advantages and strengths in international trade. I’d especially highlight the potential for cooperation in the field of renewable energy sources, particularly when it comes to solar energy,” stated the Deputy President of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, Tomislav Radoš.
Of the Croatian companies visiting, AleDo Tech, a company specialising in photovoltaic systems and complex projects in the field of renewable energy, sees Morocco as a strategic market. In contacts with public institutions, energy agencies and entrepreneurs involved in the development of renewable energy and e-mobility projects, it will present multiple things, including its own software solutions for managing electric vehicle charging stations.
“We’re focused on commercial and industrial projects of solar power plants, battery storage and e-mobility. We see the potential for cooperation primarily in the exchange of experiences. In that vein, we’re interested in their project of a 580-megawatt solar power plant with energy storage. We can offer our own IT solutions, but we also want to present the ZG Green Energy Fair, an event that we organise, which will be held in October. In all of this, personal contacts and constructive discussions are crucial,” said Domagoj Badanjak, director of AleDo Tech.
an opportunity for further growth
As much as 90% of Croatian exports to Morocco are leather products and processed wood. Part of the delegation is a Croatian company specialising in the production and trade of wood and wood products, especially beech, which is looking for opportunities to expand into new markets.
“Participating in the economic delegation to Morocco represents an important step for us in expanding our business and strengthening our export activities. Given that we’re planning to increase production capacities, we’re focused on placing our products in new markets. We know that products like ours are already being exported to Morocco, which is why we see clear potential for establishing direct cooperation with local partners. We consider the Moroccan market to be very promising due to its economic growth and ongoing industrial development. Business meetings of this type are incredibly useful because they allow us to make more personal contacts, which are the basis of trust and long-term business relationships,” said Tihomir Razumić, director of Bagrem.
The total trade between Croatia and Morocco back in 2024 amounted to almost 64 million US dollars, with an export surplus of almost 26 million dollars.
