June the 8th, 2024 – The Croatian company Rentlio has entered into a partnership agreement with ASOO (Agency for Vocational Education and Adult Education), and schools stand to benefit.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the Croatian company Rentlio, which deals with accommodation units, entered into a partnership agreement with the Agency for Vocational Education and Adult Education (ASOO), thereby making its system for managing hotel operations available to all vocational schools in Croatia. The system in question is the Rentlio Pro hotel system, and this collaboration aims to improve the educational system and the education of future hoteliers in the increasingly competitive labour market.

It’s very well known that every year in Croatia, there is a shortage of tens of thousands of professional staff in tourism. Many companies rely on importing labour from other countries and this trend is only on the up. The Croatian company Rentlio says that using their Rentlio Pro system in vocational schools enables education and practical teaching on the most modern cloud technology. That is replacing now outdated hotel systems and completely transforming the way hotel operations are managed in general. Out of a hundred schools from the tourism, hospitality and catering sector, 40 have implemented the system so far, and interested schools can still request access. In addition to implementation, the Croatian company Rentlio also offers free training on how to use their system for all schools and teachers.

“We often talk about the lack of practical work in the Croatian education system. In the same way, discussions are often based on comments about the state of affairs but without any concrete proposals on how to change that state of affairs. The partnership between the Croatian company Rentlio and ASOO should serve as a guide for educational policy makers who manage the allocation of state resources to shape effective education strategies to demands of the rapidly changing labour market.

Through this project, we recognised the possibility to move away from the status quo and make a social contribution through what we do best – the digitisation of the tourism industry. By strengthening the very foundations on which we continue to build our tourism, we’re participating in the creation of a more competitive, digitally literate and modern hospitality industry. Just the way we at Rentlio see it and what we know Croatia is capable of”, said Sanja Sudar, manager for business development at Rentlio.

Through this cooperation, the Croatian company Rentlio has also become a partner of the national competition for high school students called WorldSkills Croatia. Over 350 of the best students from more than 200 vocational schools across the country participated in it. The goal of this project was to enable secondary vocational schools to practice and work in the hotel operations management system before and during the WorldSkills regional and national competition.

“Cooperation with Rentlio is important for secondary vocational schools in the tourism and hospitality sector, as it provides the opportunity to develop competencies in the field of reception business. In this way, it’s possible to raise the quality of teaching in vocational schools, prepare students for the competition in the discipline “Hotel reception business” and create real situations in which students can acquire the necessary competencies for the future labour market”, said Monika Belle, senior expert advisor for tourism and hospitality at the Agency for Vocational Education and Adult Education.
