April the 17th, 2025 – The Croatian company Dalekovod (more specifically Dalekovod-Projekt) is participating in the most important energetic connection of Sweden as part of a 62 million euro job.
As Poslovni Dnevnik/Borivoje Dokler writes, the Croatian company Dalekovod is participating in one of the most important infrastructure projects of the energy transition in Sweden.
It involves the design and construction of two new 400 kV transmission lines and the reconstruction of one existing 400 kV transmission line along a 460-kilometre corridor between Karlstad and Östersund.

This megaproject, known as Karlstadbenet, will increase the electricity transmission capacity between the north and south of the country and alleviate bottlenecks between the power areas. As part of a team led by the Swedish company Tyréns as the main consultant, the Croatian company Dalekovod and Cowi will provide expert support in their respective areas of expertise. The investor of this massive 62 million euro project is Svenska kraftnät, the Swedish national transmission system operator.
As a key subcontractor in this project, the Croatian Dalekovod company is responsible for providing design services and expert support in the field of power engineering in Sweden as part of this huge job. Their role, in collaboration with colleagues from Tyréns and Cowi, encompasses the entire process of designing new and reconstructing existing overhead lines, from initial surveys to detailed engineering design and support during construction.
Specifically, this includes field surveys and preliminary routing, feasibility analyses and optimisation of construction solutions, the preparation of bases for public discussion, the submission of concession applications and environmental impact assessments, as well as the development of detailed technical solutions for construction.
“We’re very proud to be part of such a significant project that will have long-term positive effects on the Swedish electricity system. With many years of experience in planning and designing electricity systems, Dalekovod-Projekt brings valuable knowledge and resources that will contribute to the realisation of this demanding infrastructure task. In addition, we’re pleased that we’re cooperating with Tyréns and Cowi because by exchanging knowledge and experience, we not only strengthen our international position, but also together contribute to an even more successful and greener energy transition in Europe,” they emphasised from the Croatian company Dalekovod-Projekt when discussing this huge Swedish job.
This project is an enormous one and will last over a decade. The first phase includes defining possible transmission line routes and selecting the optimal route within the defined corridor. This will be followed by developing technical solutions and obtaining the necessary permits, with the construction of the transmission line planned for after 2030. Dalekovod-Projekt will actively cooperate with Tyréns and other partners throughout the process to ensure timely and high-quality implementation of the project.
