June the 10th, 2023 – The very first Croatian OECD accession analysis is due in September this year.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, on Wednesday and Thursday in Paris this week, Finance Minister Marko Primorac participated in the meeting of the OECD Council at the ministerial level.

Croatian OECD accession

In his statement to the press, he pointed out that after joining the Eurozone and Schengen, Croatia fully focused its efforts on joining the OECD. In order to access it, it is necessary to go through two rounds of economic analysis.

Economic analysis

One economic analysis is currently being completed and will be published in September this year. OECD Secretary General Mathias Cormann and Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic will also be at the presentation. The state of the Croatian economy and all the processes that may need to be further improved will be presented.

Croatian OECD accession is the final destination

Primorac pointed out that after entering the Eurozone and Schengen, joining the OECD remained the final filter in terms of all those reforms and processes that need to be improved in the domestic economic environment in order to be sure that we have all the preconditions for preserving stable economic growth,” said the Minister of Finance.

Investor interest is strong

On the sidelines of the meeting, he assessed that investors’ interest in the Croatian Eurobond was exceptional. As a reminder, on Tuesday, the Ministry of Finance issued a Eurobond on the international capital market in the total nominal amount of 1.5 billion euros, maturing in 2035. The annual coupon interest rate is 4, and the realised yield is 4.047 percent.

The transaction was completed within one single day, with extremely strong demand in the total amount of more than 6.4 billion euros. The registration book contained more than 200 individual interests of investors from a number of countries: Germany, Great Britain, Austria, France and the USA.
