July the 1st, 2026 – The Croatian company Orqa has signed a partnership agreement with the Canadian Remote Robotic Systems (RRS) to further expand their (already enviable) drone production.

Poslovni reports that the document signed is an exclusive partnership agreement with the Canadian company Remote Robotic Systems (RRS), paving the way for the expanded production of advanced drone systems and components across the Atlantic in Canada.

This particular agreement primarily focuses on cooperation in the development, production and commercialisation of advanced defence technologies, with a focus on unmanned systems, counter-drone protection and artificial intelligence integration.

The partnership was signed during the Croatian-Canadian Economic Forum in Toronto, held as part of Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković’s recent official visit to Canada. The agreement was presented as a step toward strengthening economic and technological cooperation between the two countries.

Through the partnership, Orqa’s systems and components will be produced over in Canada for Canadian and international markets. The companies jointly aim to create a stronger supply chain for drone technology and expand access to advanced unmanned systems.

Orqa, which is otherwise based in the unassuming eastern Croatian city of Osijek, has become one of the country’s best-known drone technology companies. It didn’t take long for it to start doing the rounds on a European and then global scale. It develops ultra-modern unmanned aerial systems, drone components and related technologies used in both commercial and security applications.

The agreement also highlights the growing importance of drone and counter-drone technology. Modern defence systems increasingly rely on unmanned aircraft for the sake of human safety, while countries are investing in ways to detect and protect against hostile drones.

The partnership is expected to create new opportunities for production, innovation and high-tech jobs, while helping Orqa strengthen its international presence.

For Croatia in particular, this latest deal represents yet another example of a Croatian technology company expanding into global markets and bringing Croatian engineering expertise to the international defence and robotics sector.
