Croatian Prices to be Capped for 20 More Products

January the 18th, 2025 – Croatian prices are a painful topic for most, but they’re set to be capped for 20 additional products. Here’s that list.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, Croatian prices are still among the highest in the EU for products that really don’t seem to need to carry such a tag. With inflation still causing enormous problems for bank accounts and back pockets, RTL has learned that in response to spiralling Croatian prices, the government is planning for 20 new products to be capped as of next month.

These are wheat bread, instant polenta in a one-kilogram package, oatmeal in a half-kilogram package, frozen hake (without a head) and ham in a casing (such as rolls of ham).

The list being considered by the government also includes certain types of pâté, sardines in vegetable oil, butter, 500-gram cottage cheese and fresh oranges.

In line with the announcement that the list will include more fruits and vegetables – it seems that the current proposal is for Croatian prices of bananas, red onions, crystal lettuce, kale and cauliflower to all also be capped.

On that same list, we’ll also find frozen peas in a 400-500-gram package, ground coffee (one kilogram), and boneless beef. The list also includes two detergents – a powder for machine washing in a 3-4 kilogram package, and washing up liquid for cutlery in both 400 and 500 millilitre packages.
