September the 20th, 2023 – The Croatian Tourist Board has begun a sustainable tourism campaign as the post-season kicks in. Sustainable tourism promotion has otherwise been a strategic aim for Croatian tourism for a while now.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, a new Croatian Tourist Board campaign entitled ”Experience what’s local. Explore sustainable Croatia” will be implemented for the domestic market from mid-September to mid-November with the aim of promoting sustainable travel around the country during the off-season, the Croatian Tourist Board recently reported.

This is otherwise the third continuation of this sustainable tourism campaign with which the Croatian Tourist Board has been promoting the offer of rural areas in the post-season. The promotion has been going on for the last two years, and this year, together with its partners, the tourist board decided to dedicate it to sustainability.

The director of the country’s national tourism body, Kristjan Staničić, noted that back during the first campaign in 2021, lesser-known destinations were at the centre of the promotion, while now the sustainability of the location is taking precedence. This involves products, content and services that make up an important part of increasingly sought-after sustainable trips, which imply care for the environment, destinations and the local population. These goals are aligned with the Strategic Marketing and Operational Plan of Croatian Tourism.

The campaign has eight thematic video clips with prominent examples of sustainable tourism across the Republic of Croatia. The videos are about Hvar, Lastovo, Lika, Mali Lošinj, Međimurje, Istria, locations across central Croatia and Papuk.

The Croatian Tourist Board says that everyone, from individuals to large facilities and destinations to public institutions, has become aware of the importance of taking care of the environment. According to them, there is still much that can be done in this particular regard in the world of travel, leisure and tourism.
