ZAGREB, Jan 16 (Hina) – Consumer prices increased by 1.2% in December 2017 year on year, which was a lower inflation rate than in November and October 2017 when it was 1.4%, according to figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics (DZS) on Tuesday.
In December 2017, compared with December 2016, hotel and restaurant prices increased the most, by 6.4%. They were followed by prices of clothing and footwear (+2.4%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+2.3%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (+.22%) and transport (+2.1%).
On the hand, the largest decreases were recorded in prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (-1.0%), communications (-0.7%), furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-0.1%).
Monthly decrease in prices
In December 2017, compared with November 2017, consumer prices fell by 0.3%.
The largest decreases were observed in prices of clothing and footwear (-5.8%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.5%), and recreation and culture (-0.1%).
Increases were recorded in prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+2.2%), transport (+0.5%), housing, electricity, electricity, gas and other fuels (+0.1%), furnishings (+0.1%) and education (+0.1%).
Prices of healthcare, communications, hotel and restaurants, and miscellaneous goods and services remained stable.
In 2017, compared with 2016, consumer prices went up by 1.1% on average.
