October the 14th, 2024 – The Dubrovnik nautical tourism picture for September 2024 is looking better than it did back during the same month last year.

Nautical tourism is one of Croatia’s greatest assets. There’s nothing quite like sailing around the crystal clear Adriatic Sea ad the sun sets against the backdrop of rugged mountains and countless islands. Boasting an enormous fleet, Croatian nautical tourism grows stronger with every passing year, and it’s no surprise that for the vast majority, Dubrovnik is a starting place before heading up this remarkable coastline to explore further afield.

It’s no secret that Dubrovnik in particular has had plenty of issues with cruise tourism, as gigantic floating cities cause havoc for the local population, the infrastructure and for the administrative management of the city’s historic core. Nautical tourism extends far beyond damaging cruise ships, however, and it seems that the glorious Pearl of the Adriatic has plenty of good things to boast about when it comes to anchors and sails this year.

As Morski writes, according to the data of the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) for the area of the City of Dubrovnik, almost 8,000 arrivals and a very impressive 56,000 overnight stays were recorded for Dubrovnik nautical tourism during September. Those figures represent a six percent increase when compared to September 2023.

The most numerous arrivals making up the entire Dubrovnik nautical tourism picture for September this year were from across the pond in the USA. The Americans were then followed by other European countries; Great Britain, Australia, Germany, elsewhere in Croatia, and Poland. Then came Canada.

In the first three quarters of this year, just over 39,000 arrivals and 262,500 overnight stays were registered as part of the Dubrovnik nautical tourism picture. That number represents an encouraging three percent increase compared to the same period last year.
