Dubrovnik Summer Festival: Traditional Linđo Performances to Come!

Lauren Simmonds

Beginning tomorrow!

As Dubrovački Dnevnik reports on the 25th of July, 2017, traditional performances of the much adored Linđo Folklore Ensemble at the 68th Dubrovnik Summer Festival start tomorrow, the 26th of July, beginning at 21:30 on Fort Revelin’s terrace.

Year in, year out, the beloved Linđo performances at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival represent the timeless, rich heritage of Croatian folk songs and dances, interesting to both foreign and domestic audiences in attendance of the festival.

In this year’s rich program, Linđo’s traditional performance will be followed by dances from groups from different regions of Croatia, including Zaprešić, Vrlika, Valpova and more.

Founded in 1964, Folklore Ansamble Linđo is deeply woven into the hearts of the culture and the people of the City of Dubrovnik and draws its name from the best loved and most famous folk dance of Dubrovnik Primorje, Župa and Konavle (all within the wider Dubrovnik area).

The ensemble also involves Klapa songs, the most widely used form of traditional singing throughout southern Croatia, particularly in its coastal and island regions. In December 2012, UNESCO included Klapa singing on its prestigious list of non-material world heritage and Linđo itself is the recipient of many awards.

Tickets for Linđo’s performances, including tomorrow, July the 31st, and August the 12th and 16th, are available online.

All residents of Dubrovnik-Neretva County have a 30% discount on the purchase of tickets at sales venues upon displaying proof of residence.
