March the 2nd, 2026 – Đurđevac, famous for being saved from the Ottomans by a chicken and for its “desert” which is home to actual camels, successfully recorded higher tourism numbers in 2025.
As Prigorski writes, Đurđevac once again confirmed its leading role in tourism for the otherwise entirely overlooked Koprivnica-Križevci County in 2025.
Over the past year, 6,278 tourist arrivals were recorded in the town, which accounts for 29.5% of total arrivals in the whole county. An impressive 20,619 overnight stays were recorded, or 36.3% of total overnight stays at the county level. This encouraging data clearly highlights that more than a third of all tourist overnight stays in the county were realised in Đurđevac itself.
These positive trends have seemed to continue in 2026. In the first two months of this year, compared to the same period in 2025, the number of overnight stays recorded in Đurđevac increased by 10.07%, which further confirms continued growth.
The achieved results in the local tourism sector in this continental part of Croatia are a strong indicator of the continuous and thoughtful development of Đurđevac as an actual destination worth visiting. The number of arrivals and overnight stays confirms that Đurđevac is becoming more and more recognisable on the tourist map of continental Croatia, and it’s especially important to emphasise that its share in the overall results of the county is continuously growing from year to year.
