August the 23rd, 2025 – Economic growth across Dalmatia resulted in the creation of 5700 new work places in 2024.

As Ana Roksandic/Poslovni Dnevnik writes, Split-Dalmatia County recorded encouraging and strong economic momentum in 2024. The number of business enterprises in that county reached almost 18,000, and they employed a total of 93,425 people. Compared to 2023, this marked an increase in employment by 5,702 people or 6.5 percent, indicating stable growth in the region’s labour market, according to Fina’s data.

The total income of businesses based in Dalmatia exceeded 12 billion euros, which is almost 14 percent more than the year before. At the same time, expenses grew even faster, by 14.7 percent to 11.2 billion euros.

The profit for the entire last year across Split-Dalmatia County amounted to 892.6 million euros, but losses also increased significantly (54.8 percent), to 253.9 million euros. As a result, net profit was only slightly lower than a year earlier (0.4 percent) and amounted to 638.7 million euros.

The positive trend was also felt by employees, whose average monthly net salary increased to 1,036 euros, which is 14.7 percent more than a year earlier when it amounted to 903 euros. Among the companies themselves, the highest income was achieved by the Omiš-based retail chain Studenac d.o.o., and by as much as 758.4 million euros.

On the other hand, the highest profit of 43.6 million euros was recorded by the betting company Hattrick-PSK d.o.o. from Dugopolje not far from Split. Despite the growth in employment and wages, the data shows that the county’s economy is facing the challenge of faster growth in expenses than income. That could shape business dynamics in the coming years in spite of the economy in Dalmatia experiencing growth and job creation in 2024 and (hopefully) beyond it.

The overall data shows that there was clear economic growth across Dalmatia back in 2024, with more employees, higher revenues and higher employee wages. At the same time, however, the faster growth of expenses than income is sending out a warning that the majority of Dalmatian businesses are operating under increasing pressure.
