October the 1st, 2026 – A brand new St. Jerome exhibition now awaits passengers coming and going from Split Airport.

The new exhibition brings together works by 24 prominent Croatian painters and sculptors created at the St. Jerome Art Colony on Marjan. Morski reports that the exhibition was officially opened by Split-Dalmatia County Prefect Blaženko Boban.

“On the occasion of the feast of Saint Jerome and Split-Dalmatia County Day, we organised an exhibition of our most eminent painters and sculptors, not only from our county but from the whole of the Republic of Croatia, who took part in the art colony on Marjan. We are presenting the exhibition for the third time, after the University Gallery and the National and University Library in Zagreb,” said Boban. He added that the exhibition at the Airport also opens the possibility for the story of Saint Jerome, Marjan and contemporary Croatian fine art to travel beyond Croatia’s borders.

“I’d like to thank all the artists and the director of Split Airport, and I congratulate him and all the staff on 60 years of very high-quality work by Saint Jerome Airport,” the Prefect said.

This year’s presentation of the exhibition has additional symbolism because Split Airport is marking the 60th anniversary of its founding. Its director Josip Čorić expressed satisfaction that such a cultural event is being held for the first time in the Airport premises.

The exhibition brings together works by Goran Balić, Duje Botteri, Nikola Džaja, Kažimir Hraste, Petar Jakelić, Kuzma Kovačić, Đani Martinić, Duje Matetić, Matko Mijić, Dijana Iva Sesartić, Ana Marija Botteri, Josip Botteri Dini, Željko Bubalo, Alma Čače, Vladimir Davidenko, Lili Gluić, Karin Grenc, Ivan Listeš, Zvonimir Mihanović, Tea Morić Šitum, Hrvoje Marko Peruzović, Vice Tomasović, Marko Gugić and Frane Šitum. The works were created at the St. Jerome Art Colony, held on the 22nd and 23rd of September 2023 on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Split-Dalmatia County, organised by Split-Dalmatia County, the University of Split and the Parish of the Holy Cross, Veli Varoš.
