June 12, 2023 – Sisak-Moslavina County Prefect Ivan Celjak participated yesterday as Prime Minister Plenković’s representative in the celebration of Sisak-Moslavina County Day in Sisak, Desno Trebarjevo and Martinska Vesa. He noted that the government is investing significant funds in the county’s development and rehabilitation of the consequences of the earthquake. He commented that Sisak-Moslavina is currently the fastest growing Croatian county.

As Index writes, on the 30th birthday of the Sisak-Moslavina County, at the central cross at the Viktorovac City Cemetery in Sisak and the monument on Dr. Franje Tuđman Square in Sisak, tribute was paid to the Croatian veterans by laying wreaths, lighting candles, and prayer.

“We are currently the fastest growing Croatian county”

A traditional tribute was paid to the giants of Croatian history, Stjepan and Antun Radić, in front of their birthplace in Desno Trebarjevo.

“The Radić brothers left a great mark in Croatian history. Today we especially remember our fallen Croatian veterans and our living heroes, without whom there would not be Sisak-Moslavina County. Our county has faced numerous challenges in the last 30 years. “Unfortunately, the Homeland War left serious consequences for our area. The new challenge we face is the remediation of the earthquake damage,” said Prefect Ivan Celjak.

“The county, within its jurisdiction, is very successful in reconstruction, and we are currently the fastest growing Croatian county. The government of the Republic of Croatia invests significant funds in our development,” said county prefect Celjak. He further added that he believes the county’s residents will also feel the progress in their everyday lives.

The delegation from Sisak-Moslavina County included the President of the County Assembly, Mato Fofić, Deputy Prefect Mihael Jurić, and Deputy Prefect from the Serbian National Minority, Mirjana Oluić.

On behalf of the President of the Croatian Parliament, the MP and Mayor of Petrinja, Magdalena Komes, laid wreaths and lit candles. Parliamentarians Marijana Petir, Krešo Beljak, and Željko Lenart participated in the Desno Trebarjevo commemoration.

Mass celebration in the church of St. Bishop Martin in Desna Martinska Vesa was led by pastor Ivica Šimunović.
