Young Wines Surprise with Their Fantastic Taste

Slavonian wines are getting better and better, and Feravino is always among the best producers. At the Jarunski Dvori in Zagreb, the winery from Feričanci presented to its business partners and wine connoisseurs a completely new story with a touch of the Slavonian tradition on December 7, 2015. And, as the saying goes, every story which has a tradition must be continued; otherwise it just becomes something that our grandparents used to be doing. Those who do not keep pace with the times will slowly lose the present and the future as well.

In the last twenty years, Feravino is a wine cellar which has been producing great wines with the identity of Slavonia, one of the best wine-growing regions in Europe. Their best known brand is their superior Frankovka, and now they have expanded their range to more excellent wines which have attracted attention at many of the top wine events and competitions.

“Young Frankovka and young Graševina of 2015 vintage are indications of the new direction in which Feravino has been moving. Young wines have pronounced fruity flavours and excel in purity of wine technology. They are a true reflection of the harvest of 2015, which is one of the best in the last 20 years. The wealth of both wines reflects the whole winemaking year, while the freshness and playfulness are the result of the right decisions made by the oenological team. The external appearance of young Frankovka, its label, is somewhat arrogant, rebellious and very modern and transmits a message about the direction in which Feravino will move in the future”, said Jenette Šimić from Marketing and Public Relations Department of Feravino.

The guests were greeted by champagne naturally produced by the method of fermentation in the bottle, while the evening continued with a carefully selected menu, accompanied by ripe Feravino wines: Frankovka Miraz 2012 and special wine Graševina from 2009. The focus of the entire event was the tasting of two young wines – Graševina Dika 2015 and Young Frankovka 2015.

The old process for producing top Frankovka wines was based on their aging in barrique oak barrels, with several months spent in bottles. The new style of production is something completely different. Modern oenological processes have resulted in wines with expressed juiciness and character which combines fruitiness, softness and freshness. A strong and vivid colour of maraska cherry with pronounced purple tone reflects the youth and precision of technology. All this is the result of an ideal position of vineyards and 35 years of experience.

“Graševina Dika 2015 is a playful wine with pronounced freshness, green-yellow colour, with aromas of citrus, melon and pear. The taste is quite rich. The wine is combined with wines of two different harvests, early and late, which together give it wealth and playfulness”, Šimić concluded.

Finally, one more important thing: both young wines have shocked us with their splendour and fine taste, which our senses can enjoy even today…
