The Dika name is given to those we love endlessly or are proud of endlessly. The scents and beauty of Slavonian forests are an inspiration for the new, modern label of Dika line wines, from the famous Croatian producer Feravino. It is signed by the Ljubljana studio Kofein, headed by Creative Director Zarja Vintar, who gave the recognisable Slavonian symbol a new, modern and more attractive garment. The Dika line will now be recognised by the stylized pheasant feather.

“We wanted to point out this is a modern wine house with various price ranges, but with a basic identity. Slavonian rivers, Pannonian plain, cultural and natural heritage of Slavonia, oak, wild animals, wild rivers between which Feričanci are located are an inspiration for the labels of all Feravino wines, while a pheasant feather symbolises easiness, relaxation, beauty, playfulness, freshness, all the characteristics of these wines,” said Zarja during the premiere of new labels and wines at the Rooftop café bar of the Lateral restaurant in Zagreb.

The tasting began with the Rose Dika 2016 made from Frankovka. This interesting wine with balanced acids, high harmony with pleasant alcohols, is an excellent choice for an aperitif.

The Decanter awarded Graševina Dika 2016 is a favourite with wine connoisseurs, but also those who love merry, light, flowery and scented wines, with rich aromas of ripe grapes. With balanced tastes reminiscent of acacia, it is pleasantly bitter, rounded and ideal for special occasions.

Admirers of dry and classy wines enjoyed the Chardonnay Dika 2016, a wine with harmonious character ideally combined with alcohols and acids. Its fresh and subtle taste, completed with characteristic acacia tones, creates a pleasant feeling in the mouth.

The Pinot Blanc Dika 2016 is interesting in taste and structure, with finely balanced acids, high harmony with the rather high alcohol. It has an exceptional fullness of taste, sparkly fine clarity, typical for continental superior wines.

Unlike other continental wineries, Feravino dedicates almost half of their production to red wines. Among them, the Frankovka is especially prominent, giving great results in Feričanci. This is witnessed by the Frankovka Dika 2015. Juicy, lively, fresh wine with a sour cherry aroma and pronounced acids, it has a universal character.

The tasting ended with Merlot Dika 2015, a very harmonious, soft and drinkable wine, with almost unnoticeable, but ripe tannins with a mild notion of wood and scent of berry fruit and cocoa.

“Dika line wines are a reflection of excellent years, but also superior technology and experience of a complex oenology team,” said Feravino oenologist Marijan Knežević.

The quality of Feravino wines is confirmed by many world awards, the latest arriving in the end of May. Three wines were awarded at the Decanter World Wine Awards. A bronze for two 2016 Graševinas, one form the Dika line, the other from the Miraz line, and the excellent Frankovka Miraz 2012 received a recommendation. A day later came medals from the International Wine Challenge, a bronze for the Graševina Dika 2016 and a recommendation for Frankovka Miraz 2012.
