July the 3rd, 2024 – Excellent news for the first quarter of this year as foreign visitors to Croatia spend 825 million euros.

As Ana Blaskovic/Poslovni Dnevnik writes, over the first quarter of this year, revenues brought into the country from abroad have been great. To speak more specifically, foreign visitors to Croatia spent a massive 824.7 million euros, according to a report from the Ministry of Tourism and Sport released by the Croatian National Bank (CNB). This sum represents very significant growth of 24.6 percent compared to the first three months of 2023, i.e. 162.9 million euros more in revenue.

“We’re more than satisfied because the trend of achieving record revenues from foreign visitors to Croatia over the past two years has continued in 2024. From 2016 to the end of 2023, when the income from foreign tourists amounted to a record 14.6 billion euros, we recorded an increase of 75 percent. Now, this growth is even more pronounced outside of the summer months,” said Minister of Tourism and Sport, Tonči Glavina.

Glavina has stated that he believes that this is a continued confirmation of the government’s strategic activities to position Croatia as a year-round tourist destination. In his opinion, the results of the pre-season show that in the first five months of this year, tourist traffic was 12 percent better than it was back during the same period last year.

Last year, also tourism revenues recorded significant growth, rising from 13.1 billion euros in 2022 to 14.6 billion euros. That represented a marked increase of 1.49 billion euros, or 11.4 percent. When this is looked at more deeply and in the context of the entire economy, revenues from foreign visitors to Croatia reached 19.6 percent of the nation’s GDP last year.
